The trip couldn't have worked out any better for Deseronto, victorious in Monday's $7,500 Preferred 3 Pace at The Raceway at Western Fair District.

Ryan Holliday hustled Deseronto away from Post 2 and managed to gain the pocket spot behind fleet-footed Tomitta Bayama (Paul MacKenzie), who carved out splits of :28.2, :58.1 and 1:26.2 through three-quarters of a mile. Favoured House Of Terror (Alfie Carroll) started to fade after a first-over bid, allowing ample room for Holliday to angle his charge from the garden spot at the head of the lane. Deseronto responded with a swift closing kick in the stretch for the 1:55.2 score. Tomitta Bayama held second, more than two lengths back of the winner with Leafs And Wings (Robert Shepherd) completing the triactor.

A homebred owned by Paul Lindsey of Fergus, Ont. and trained by Donald Lindsey, Deseronto (Whosurboy - Serena Drummond) notched his third win of the campaign with this one coming on the heels of a win in his last outing a week ago. Keeping with the 'good things happen in threes' theme, the win was one of three on the card for Holliday.
