On the eve of the Northlands Filly Pace, the race's 2012 champion, Phone Terror, was in the spotlight at Fraser Downs as she won Friday's featured $10,500 Fillies & Mares Open Pace.
Phone Terror, the 1-9 favourite fresh off an Open win last Friday night, looped Sheezgotdawoogies after a :28 first quarter over the sloppy track. She then called the shots through middle splits of :59 and 1:28 en route to a three and half length victory in 1:57 over the early leader. Prairie Illusion followed in third-place.
Edmonton's Lucy Raymond owns the six-year-old daughter of Western Terror while local horseman Serge Masse handles the training and driving duties.
Phone Terror now boasts four wins and two seconds from her first six starts at this Fraser meet. Friday's win was her 11th of the year from 31 outings and gives her a six-figure annual income for the first time since her sophomore season -- although she was just shy of that $100,000 mark last year.
A 39-time career winner, Phone Terror has total earnings of $422,914.
Raymond has another daughter of Western Terror in this year's Northlands Filly Pace in Remember Terror, who will leave from post three in Saturday's $70,000 stakes event at Northlands Park. Bill Tainsh Jr. will drive the Scott McGinn trainee, who is also co-owned by Allan Neurauter.
