Another Ottawa Series Win For Eagle Trace

Eagle Trace inherited a victory to become a repeat winner in the Ottawa South Trotting Series, which continued on Friday night at Rideau Carleton Raceway with three $18,750 second leg divisions

. The series is for $10,000 claiming trotters that are non-winners of $40,000 (fillies and mares $50,000) lifetime as of Nov. 15, 2010.

The popular Likaty ($4.80), driven by Kyle Forgie, was a wire-to-wire winner in the first event, holding off longshot Rumor Seelster (Ted McDonald) and Little Moola (Guy Gagnon) to win in 2:03 by a half-length. The five-year-old Angus Hall-Joyance mare, who finished third during the opening round, is trained by Bernard Emond for Ecuries Gamer TG of Gatineau, Que. The winner of nine races in 26 starts this year was claimed for $12,500 by Laura Winacott of Peterborough and Barry McClennan of Cavan, Ont.

Making his series debut, Tymal Tell ($18.50) pulled off an 8-1 upset in the second division as he rallied three-wide off cover to score over the pacesetter, first leg winner Everybody Nos Her (Guy Gagnon), by three-quarters of a length in a lifetime-best 1:59.3. Acacia De Chakrika (Ted McDonald) rallied from last to show. The five-year-old gelded son of Kadabra-Catchmeanangel was driven to victory by Daniel Dulude for owner-trainer Christine Davignon. The win was his second in 29 outings this year.

Driven by Guy Gagnon, first leg winner Eagle Trace ($17.30) cut out all the fractions in the final split, but was beat out at the wire by Close The Light (Michel Audet). However, Eagle Trace inherited the victory with her career-best 1:59.4 effort after Close The Light was placed back to seventh for causing interference. Track Legal (Ted McDonald) and favourite Alpha Hall (Denis St Pierre), both winners in the opening round of the series, were bumped up to second and third. The three-year-old Angus Hall-Duxelle Hanover filly, a winner of six races in 15 starts this year, is trained by Richard Moreau for Ecurie Gaetan Bono Inc. of Montreal, Que.

In other action, Jamie Copley scored a training triple during the 15-race Friday night card.
