Jim Vinnell Memorial champion Son Of Anarchy was back in action after nearly a month-long layoff and circled a short field of Open pacers to win his return race in a career-best clocking on Sunday, Dec. 27 at Fraser Downs.
Trained and driven by Paul Davies, Son Of Anarchy trailed a field of five before sprinting his final quarter in :28.1 over the sloppy track to triumph in the featured $10,500 Open Pace. The four-year-old Driven To Win gelding prevailed by a head at the wire over the pocket-pulling Keystone Royce in 1:52.2 while the popular pacesetter Sterling Cooper (:26.1, :55, 1:22.3) finished over one length behind in third.
Son Of Anarchy last raced in an Open on Nov. 27 finishing third before being scratched sick from the Dec. 6 event. He paid $15.60 to win his as the 6-1 second-longest shot on the board and his 1:52.2 winning time was a new lifetime mark.
Son Of Anarchy has won 10 of his 38 races this year while banking $87,030. The pacer is owned by Edmonton's Lorne Duffield and Diane Harries of Falun, Alta.
