In today's Toronto Star, writer Dave Perkins places pacing powerhouse Somebeachsomewhere on top of his year-end list of Canadian sports standouts.

With a local sports scene that left much to be desired, Perkins named 'Beach' as one key bright spot for Greater Toronto Area sports enthusiasts:

Somebeachsomewhere raced around here plenty and was surely the best pacer in 25 years, if not the best since the invention of the stopwatch. He lost only once, for trainer Brent MacGrath and driver Paul MacDonell, set world speed and earnings records and was Canada's greatest performer, all things considered, in 2008.

Finally someone has given The Beach his dues. He should be newsmaker of the year as it was his total racing ability and one of the very very bright spots of a gloomy 2008 that was put forth. He filled the grandstands everywhere he went and had picked a fan following which has not been seen in many years for the standardbreds. This not only got standardbred fans attention but the attention of news people and just down right ordinary people from everywhere.
The best of luck in your new career.
