The 12 Dan Patch Award champions of their respective North American harness racing divisions, determined by voting of the United States Harness Writers Association (USHWA) in conjunction with American Harness Racing Secretaries (AHRS), will be announced this Tuesday (Dec. 27) and Wednesday (Dec. 28), in two formats.
A special video broadcast from Harrah’s Hoosier Park (part of Caesars Entertainment, the presenter of the Dan Patch Awards) is scheduled to run starting at noon both days, and will be available on the Hoosier YouTube channel. Any updates, if needed, will be circulated in the trade media as soon as known. In addition, releases will be distributed through the major news media of the sport immediately following the video announcement. The trotters will be featured on Tuesday, with the pacers highlighted on Wednesday.
The announcements of the Trotter of the Year, the Pacer of the Year and the Harriman Harness Horse of the Year will be announced live at the Dan Patch Awards Banquet, presented by Caesars Entertainment, on Sunday evening, Feb. 19 at the Rosen Shingle Creek Resort in Orlando, Florida. Information about hotel reservations, dinner tickets, sponsorships and souvenir Journal advertising has been included with the Dan Patch Awards announced last week, and will also be attached to the new releases provided after the divisional winners announcements each day -- should you and/or your horse, or a friend of yours, be fortunate enough to be a winner and you want to share in the celebration.
