So Frisky ($3.30) and Pembrook Legacy N ($3.50) both delivered on odds-on promises in their co-featured $10,000 Preferred 3 events on the Boxing Day (Sunday, Dec. 26) program at The Raceway at the Western Fair District.
In the Preferred 3 for pacing fillies and mares, Colin Kelly and So Frisky secured the pocket behind Mywishlistforyou (Garrett Rooney), who used pole position to establish the lead on the first turn, before ascending to the lead before completing a :28.4 first quarter. From there, the five-year-old Dali mare faced nary a threat, rating middle splits of :58.4 and 1:27.1 while the first-over Radomirogeo (Jason Ryan) only managed to work into a joint second. Off the home turn, Randomirogeo had faded, enabling Mywishlistforyou to angle out to give chase just inside the eighth pole. So Frisky proved up to the task, driven out through the final sixteenth to evade her pocket rival by three-quarters of a length in 1:56.3. Dazzlin Rosie (Ross Battin) was a ground-saving third.

Pembrook Legacy N likewise took the short road to victory, leading at every call of his 1:56.2 score — but he and trainer-driver Lorne House faced their share of challengers in the first half of the Preferred 3 for male pacers. After working clear of A Positive Hanover (Donnie Rankin Jr.) on the first turn, Pembrook Legacy N worked to force Ideal Jet (Scott Wray) to tuck into the three-hole through a :27.4. Shortly thereafter, Marc St. Louis Jr. activated 7-5 second choice Manny first-over out of fourth, and they advanced to engage Pembrook Legacy N through a :57.1 half. The battle continued early in the second circuit, but Pembrook Legacy N dismissed his outside foe with five-sixteenths to go, steadily widening his lead past three-quarters in 1:26 and amassing 5-1/2 lengths of clearance at the winning post. A Positive Hanover preserved runner-up honours over Carsons Shadow (Ryan), who was forced three-wide around stalled cover into the home turn.
Samuel Taylor owns Pembrook Legacy N, who has defeated Preferred 3 company twice in the past six days. The eight-year-old Bettors Delight gelding has won 10 times in his career.
