Preferred Parade At Western Fair

A parade of Preferred tilts were on tap at Western Fair Raceway on Sunday afternoon, with Ultra Jimmy and Twin B Rawley taking home top prize

in their respective assignments.

Ultra Jimmy led the field through fractions of :28, :57.4 and 1:27.1 before stepping home in :29.1 to win by three-quarters of a length over race favourite Secret Weapon in a time of 1:56.2. Third prize was earned by Monster In Law.

Trained and driven to victory by Kenny Oliver, Ultra Jimmy improved his 2010 record to 12-5-1 from 34 starts with the win. Shirley and Kerry House of St. Jacobs share ownership on the four-year-old son of Electric Stena with Kimberly Inglis of Brampton, ON. The lion’s share of the purse pushed the pacers earnings to $128,467.

Twin B Rawley made a three-wide move going to the three-quarter pole in the Preferred Trot for trainer/driver Gord McKnight, and that proved to be the winning move. The six-year-old son of Malabar Maple drew off to win by 4-3/4 lengths over Sand Wyndham in a time of 1:59. Race favourite Logans Hero was third.

Rusty and Deanna Spitzig of Courtright, ON share ownership on the gelding, who is a now a nine-time winner this season and a 22-time winner to date. He has stashed away close to $284,000 in his career.

Breewood Gringo survived a first-over journey en route to winning the $11,000 Preferred-2 Trot for owner/trainer/driver Stephen Loughran of Princeton, ON. The four-year-old son of Amigo Hall battled with pacesetter Man Camp before putting him away and fending off a late challenge from runner-up Weskey in a time of 2:01.1. Southwind Califon tagged along to finish third.

The Ontario Sires Stakes graduate is now 3-for-18 this season. The nine-time winner has managed to put away more than $147,000 to date.
