Support is pouring in from the harness racing industry far and wide to those affected by a devastating fire that destroyed an entire Standardbred barn in Nova Scotia earlier this week.

A GoFundMe Page established by Kaitlyn Wesley of Truro, N.S. to assist those impacted by the Monday morning fire has almost reached its $20,000 goal as of Wednesday morning. Other impromptu initiatives, including an equipment donation drive spearheaded by Ken Middleton in Ontario, are also underway.

“I thought I'd be walking away," Standardbred owner and trainer Joe Nearing told CTV News on Tuesday. “And it looks like we're going to get help from people. People I don't even know, really.

"It’s mind blowing, I guess is the best way to put it. It's hard to believe."

A total of 14 Standardbreds perished in the tragic fire, including three owned by Nearing.

"Just, thank you very much. I greatly appreciate it," said Nearing.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
