Feeling Sweet benefitted from a perfect journey and won the $19,000 Fillies and Mares Winners Over Select Pace at Bally’s Dover on Wednesday night (Dec. 20).
Tae, Feeling Sweet and Majorca N left in a line approaching the quarter pole. Feeling Sweet cleared for the lead at the quarter in a blistering :26.1 while Majorca N was parked three-wide from post eight before she muscled her way to the top approaching the half-mile in :55.2.
Disturbed Hanover sprinted first-up down the backstretch. Quick E followed second-over on the rim then circled three-wide approaching the three-quarters. Majorca N continued her lead passing the three-quarters in 1:24.2.
Feeling Sweet, the 6-5 betting favourite, was feeling good off of the pocket trip for driver Montrell Teague. They tipped off the pylons and surged past Majorca N to win in 1:53.4. Feeling Sweet paid $4.60 for the win. Majorca N was hard used but finished second. Tae found room late and finished third.
Feeling Sweet (Sweet Lou-Feel Life) is owned by George and Tina Dennis Racing of Wyoming, Delaware. Joe Columbo trains the six-year-old mare and Montrell Teague offered a perfect drive for the victory.
The 14th race Pentafecta returned $10,394.
Bally’s Dover will race its final night of live harness before the Christmas break on Thursday, Dec. 21. The feature race on Thursday is the 12th race, $27,500 Blue Hen/Open Handicap Pace. There will be a $4,542 Pick-5 carryover to Thursday night’s action. The wager is available beginning on the sixth race.
Bally’s Dover will be dark from Monday, Dec. 25 through Thursday Dec. 28. Live racing returns on Jan. 1, 2024.
