Dover Downs owners, trainers, drivers and friends of racing, pitched in to help the needy and our men in the military the 2010 Christmas season
Trainer Janet Davis again headed a Delaware Horsemen and Horsewomen’s Holiday campaign which raised approximately $9,500.
The Delaware Standardbred Owners Association 2010 Holiday project donated money to its Horsemen’s Welfare Trust Fund for distribution.
The money goes to many needy families in the Dover area. Money purchases toys for children, turkeys for needy families this season. Food and gifts are directed to local Women’s and Men’s Shelters. Phone Cards destined to our troops overseas.
In a Dover Downs winner’s circle presentation during Monday’s race program, Mrs. Davis, on behalf of DSOA Horsemen’s Holiday campaign, presented chequess to Kim Rigby for "Peoples Place," a Home for Abused Women and Children, to Scott Kidner for phone cards for U.S. servicemen overseas and also to Diana Cahall for "Shepard's Place Shelter".
