Take A Wish has been selected as the New Jersey Sire Stakes' harness racing Horse of the Year for 2018.

The award, which is voted annually by the New Jersey Sire Stakes Board of Trustees, is based solely on performances in races for New Jersey-sired horses, including NJSS-sponsored races and other major stakes for NJ-sired or bred horses.

Take A Wish, by Wishing Stone out of the SJs Caviar mare Take A Taste, was the only horse to score two finals wins, as she notched victories in the finals of the NJSS Premier Division at the Meadowlands Racetrack and the Standardbred Development Fund at Freehold Raceway. A winner of $87,395 in 2018, the three-year-old trotting filly finished on the board in five out of the six NJSS races that she entered. Regular driver Steve Smith handled Take A Wish in all her races this season. She took her record of 1:55.2 while winning the Premier Division final at the Meadowlands.

Take A Wish is owned by Dawn Anderson and Mark Schullstrom of Colts Neck, New Jersey. Anderson also performs double duty as the trainer of the filly, who was bred by Rivers Stable of Flemington, NJ.

Take A Wish's connections will be honoured at the 62nd annual Breeder Awards Luncheon on January 26, 2019 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Hamilton, New Jersey.
