.

An article by concordmonitor.com states that Norton's findings were for New Hampshire's Gaming Study Commission, which is in the midst of preparing an interim report. New Hampshire governor Deval Patrick has proposed allowing three casinos in the state.

Millennium Gaming has proposed to invest $450 million at Rockingham Park in order to revamp and convert the facility into a racino which would house 5,000 video lottery terminals.

According to the article, the two key variables that Norton outlined for the success of any New Hampshire racino are, a) the level of economic activity, and, b) decisions by neighboring Massachusetts in regard to the state building its own casinos.

The article cites information by casino developers as stating that at racino at Rockingham Park would see its revenue drop by 31 per cent if Massachusetts expanded gambling. The article also indicates that many other factors could alter the projected revenue projections one way or another.
