Allamerican Swift will have one more chance to become a 39-time winner before she takes on a new career for owner Robert Burgess of Cedar Valley, Ontario.
The seven-year-old daughter of Real Artist-Sweet Amor makes her swan song Wednesday night at Georgian Downs in the eighth race, and win, lose or draw she’ll be retired from racing before hooking up with one of Ontario’s most prolific pacing stallions.
“She will be bred to Mach Three in the new year,” said Carmen Auciello, who trains the career winner of $456,520.
Allamerican Swift has drawn Post 7 in Wednesday’s assignment, but the outside post shouldn’t be much of an issue for the fleet-footed mare.
“Ken Middleton [WEG’s track announcer] always says that what she does best is make speed in a race, and hopefully she can make babies as well as she makes speed,” added Auciello. “She’ll retire as sound as she was the day we claimed her, and I’m really looking forward to racing her babies in the OSS program in the years to come.”
Allamerican Swift entered Auciello’s barn on August 25, 2011 after being scooped out of a claiming event for $12,500. Since the acquisition she’s faced the starting gate 41 times and she’s managed to put together an impressive 11-6-4 record.
