The Kentucky Horse Racing Commission (KHRC) has a question: How are we doing?
The commission staff has distributed a three-page survey with all license renewal applications to owners and trainers. The survey also has been posted on the commission website, www.khrc.ky.gov.
Lisa Underwood, KHRC executive director, said the survey reflects the commission’s desire to work as effectively as possible.
“We are continually looking for ways to do our jobs better,” Underwood said. “This survey is one way that we can gather good ideas from the regulated community and from the public at large.”
The survey asks survey participants about their contacts with KHRC and seeks to determine, among other things, whether the staff was courteous, friendly, and responsive. Other questions dealt with whether complaints are easy to file, whether the KHRC staff investigates complaints appropriately, and whether commission procedures are clear and easy to follow.
The survey results will be compiled and analyzed to help guide future management improvements, Underwood said.
