The Government of Ontario has appointed Orlando M. Rosa as a new member of the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) Board of Directors. Rosa, a managing partner of Wishart Law Firm LLP in Sault Ste. Marie, officially began his term as a board member on December 11, 2013.
“I would like to congratulate Orlando Rosa on his new position on OLG’s Board of Directors,” said David Orazietti, MPP. “OLG plays a vital role in our local economy by providing hundreds of well-paying jobs in the community, and it is very important that the organization has a board member who is from the Sault in order to help ensure that local interests are well represented.”
Rosa joins OLG’s chair, Philip Olsson, and five other recently appointed board members: Frances Lankin, Mary Beth Currie, Gail Beggs, Joanne Lefebvre and Urban Joseph.
“OLG’s Board of Directors represents a diverse mix of Ontario business and social leaders,” said Philip Olsson, OLG chair. “I’m looking forward to working with them to position OLG for long-term success.”
Orlando M. Rosa was called to the Bar in 1983. Rosa has built a depth and variance in a law practice primarily focused on civil and commercial litigation. He is presently the managing partner of Wishart Law Firm LLP in Sault Ste. Marie. He handles a variety of large and complex litigation including railroad liability cases, environmental, insurance, contractual, municipal and tort claims for various clients.
Rosa graduated cum laude from the Faculty of Law at the University of Ottawa in 1981. During his third year he was chosen to serve as an editor of the Ottawa Law Review, the law school’s legal publication. He was admitted to the Law Society of Upper Canada in 1983. Rosa holds a number of professional affiliations and has spoken at various conferences including the American Association of Railways' Claims Conference and the Canadian Transportation Lawyers' Association. He has also served on a number of volunteer boards. Recently, Rosa was awarded the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee Medal for volunteerism in the community.
The Ontario government will be recruiting additional OLG board members over the coming months.
