Heading straight to the front, Hf Opects Trident went the distance and hit the finish first by a slim margin to win the $20,000 Century Milers Pacing Series Final for two-year-old pacing colts and geldings on Saturday, December 14 at Century Mile.

Trainer-driver Harold Haining cleared command with the Vertical Horizon gelding before a :29.3 first quarter. Odds-on favourite Dizzy Dean tipped first over from third past a :58.4 half and ranged towards the pacesetter with Wink N Win catching cover near three-quarters in 1:28.4. Wink N Win kicked off cover into the stretch and lunged after Hf Opects Trident, narrowing on his lead nearing the wire but hit the finish a nose shy of victory in a 1:59.3 mile. Dizzy Dean settled for third.

Owned by Colleen Haining, Hf Opects Trident won his first race from 12 starts, earning $11,929. He paid $25.00 to win.
