Tim Tetrick recorded four wins for the second straight program as he guided Ideal Cowboy an impressive victory in Thursday’s $30,000 Preferred Handicap at Dover Downs.
With the racing officials giving a two-second allowance due to the cold temperature and strong winds, Ideal Cowboy was clocked in 1:50.2 to win the card’s featured affair.
Tim Tetrick mapped out the winning trip for the American Ideal-Trend Setter gelding, who is trained by Jeff Bamond, Jr. for J&T Silva Stables and Bamond Racing. It was the pacer’s eighth win of the season.
Starting from post 8, Ideal Cowboy got away sixth before working his way in contention on the backstretch and then circling the field at the top of the stretch. He drew away to the victory over Bushwacker (Corey Callahan) and Dancin Yankee (Tony Morgan).
In the $27,500 Delaware Special, Seventh Secret, a recent acquisition by George & Tina Dennis Racing, is no more a secret to local fans. With George Dennis in the bike, the Allamerican Native-Secret Song horse set a lifetime mark of 1:50 beating Sweet Rock (Allan Davis) and Blazing Bobby Sox (Art Stafford Jr.).
It was the fifth win of the season for Seventh Secret, who raised his seasonal earnings to $69,996 with the victory.
Dover Downs is now dark through Christmas day as annually Delaware harness horsemen observe the yearly Holiday Break Week. Live racing resumes on Monday, Dec. 26.
