Sarah Imrie has joined the staff of The Raceway at the Western Fair District full time, assuming the role of Marketing Co-ordinator
from Jan White.
"We had big shoes to fill with the departure of Jan White to Bob FM radio," said Assistant Raceway Manager Greg Blanchard. "She did a fantastic job and was very well respected in the industry.
"We are certainly fortunate to have someone of Sarah's calibre joining us. She is a great fit with our organization and her energy and enthusiasm, along with her tremendous passion for racing, will be a great asset to us going forward."
A London native, Sarah graduated from Sheridan College's Media Arts program, focusing on TV production. She has been doing part time work for The Raceway since March and joined full time in late November.
A fan of harness racing for several years, Sarah looks forward to exposing more people to the sport she loves. "I want to make Londoners aware of what a unique and exciting attraction they have in their own backyard. My favourite part of watching the races here is how close you can get to the action.
"We need to get young people back at the track, if we can get them in the doors the sport sells itself, it's exciting!"
In addition to racing, Sarah will also be marketing the wide variety of entertainment options in The District including the newly opened Yuk Yuks.
"We've got everything moving in a great direction here at the Raceway," Sarah notes. "Yuk Yuks is now open for business Thursday through Saturday nights, it's the full entertainment package at the district. Live racing and live comedy, what a night out!"
