“It’s been a lot of fun. It really has. And I’m grateful it happened to me now, when I’m 50, instead of when I was just starting out. I can really appreciate it,” Ray Schnittker said about his success with Deweycheatumnhowe in an article in Monday's print edition of the New York Times.

The article traces Schnittker's road up until his time with 'Dewey' and also highlights the impact the star son of Muscles Yankee has had on the horseman.

“Someday, I might have a faster horse,” said Schnittker. “Or a horse that makes more money, but I’ll never have a better horse or a horse that’s nicer to be around.”

Great job with a great trotter. I am an owner of pacers since our track does not have trotting races. Western Canada does not have trotting events. I do not normally follow them but I followed the last three years as last year's big trotter and Dewey made headlines. I think we had two very worthy champions in "Dewey and Beach". Congratulations. Hope you have another great year with a champion trotter in 2009. GLH.
