Captive Audience took all the money at the betting windows, but Just A Jolt took home all the glory in Monday’s $27,500 Delaware Special at Dover Downs.
With Victory Kirby at the controls, Just A Jolt got away fourth from his Post 7 perch on the starting gate, but he quickly took the lead at the mid-way point. He cleared to the top at the half in :55 before rolling the field to the three-quarter pole in 1:22.2. A :28.3 closing panel earned the Jim King, Jr. pupil a two-length score over Dont Ya Know in 1:51. Captive Audience closed late to salvage third prize.
Sent off at odds of 3-1, Just A Jolt notched his 10th win of the season – and his 30th to date – for owner Janet Hudson of Millsboro, Delaware. The classy campaigner is quickly closing in on $450,000 in career earnings.
Phil Your Boots produced a 1:49.1 tally in the $20,000 Open Handicap. Andrew Harris trains the pacer, who was driven to victory by red-hot reinsman Yannick Gingras. The Quebec native notched five wins on the 15-race card.
Gingras also clicked with Sombodydonsomebody (1:52.2), Journeyman (1:50.1), Adventure Bound (1:50) and Good Luck (1:51.3).
