Dobson Secures Saratoga Driving Title

Driver Billy Dobson has locked up his fourth consecutive driving title at Saratoga Casino and Raceway and the 29-year-old reinsman is ending the year in style.

Dobson piloted five winners on the final Friday racing card at the Spa, including three scores for trainer Rene Allard. Allard’s Uncle Freddie (by Danish Delight) won for the 12th time this year and scored in an impressive 1:56.3 on the cold night in Saratoga. Allard’s Ken U Sing (by Ken Warkentin) continued his win streak on Friday while released as the betting public’s 1-5 favourite. Pacer Come Together (by Artsplace) completed the training triple for Allard by going last to first with Dobson in tow. Unlike his trotting stablemates, Come Together’s victory came with a solid price tag attached, returning $11 to win.

Dobson is likely sorry to see the season end as he has finished up the meet with a flourish in the final month of the campaign.

Live racing continues on Saturday night for the final time in 2013 with a 6:45 p.m. first post.
