Corey Callahan drove $1.2-million winner Green Day into the lead heading for the three-quarters on the way to a 1:53.3 victory in the $23,000 Open Handicap Trot on Wednesday, Dec. 12 at Dover Downs.
With consecutive wins under his belt, Green Day made it three-in-a-row adding the top trot of the week to his record. Leigh Nichol of the Tyler Raymer Stable conditions the Enjoy Lavec-Sonoma Hanover gelding for Mary Raymer of Hastings, Ont. The win was also the fourth in his last five starts. Now an eight-time winner this year, Green Day has been in the money in 16 of 23 races this season earning $89,153. E L Rock closed behind the winner for Ron Pierce to finish second with last week’s feature winner Gurf and Allan Davis coming on to be third.
Kodak Lindy and Montrell Teague made the winner’s circle when the three-year-old son of Classic Photo–Dream On Candy disposed the seven challengers in a 1:55 conquest in a $13,550 sub-feature trot. Owned and trainer by Brenda Teague, Kodak Lindy Won for the seventh time in 2012 in this his first season of racing. He has earned $64,715 in purses. Trojan Horse (Corey Callahan) was runner-up. My Buddy Hall Lee (George Dennis) was the show finisher.
The Kodak Lindy win was the third on the program for trotters bred by Lindy Racing Stable. Why Not Lindy won a $13,000 3,4&5-Year-Old trot with Jim Morand driving the Paul Chambers trainee to a 1:57.4 win for BCJM, Cinbrew Enterprises, Dead Money and Chambers racings. The other ‘Lindy bred’ was Frank Chick’s Bringing Up Lindy, trained by Sam Belote with Eddie Davis Jr. in the bike, winning a $10,000 trot for young horses in l:57.3.
Matt Kakaley had a triple. Ross Wolfenden drove both ends of the daily double and Jim Morand and Matt Kakakely also posted two wins.
