'Brosevelt' Tops Meadows Series Opener

Teddy Brosevelt stalked Pilgrims Tide from the pocket, then roared by him in the lane to capture his opening-leg division of a Holiday Claiming Series at on Wednesday (Dec. 11) The Meadows. Mac Deeno took the other $12,000 split in the event for $20,000 claiming trotters.

Once Brady Brown gave Teddy Brosevelt that cozy pocket trip, the four-year-old Guccio-Princess Royalty gelding had little trouble downing Pilgrims Tide by a half length in 1:56.1, with Jailhouse Buckaroo third. Tyler Stillings trains Teddy Brosevelt, who lifted his lifetime bankroll to $140,075, for Rags To Riches Of PA.

Tuesday’s card also featured a pair of opening-leg divisions in a holiday series for $10,000 claiming trotters, with Mr Quaker and Parnell collecting victories.

The Meadows is currently hosting six Holiday Claiming Series; all begin this week, and all conclude with Dec. 30 championship legs that carry estimated purses between $15,000 and $20,000.

In the $18,800 Fillies and Mares Open Handicap Pace, Camera Lady grabbed the lead past the half and held off Dark Force by a neck to prevail in 1:54.2 for Ronnie Wrenn Jr., trainer Ron Burke, and owners Burke Racing Stable and Weaver Bruscemi LLC. The five-year-old daughter of Dragon Again and Ann Van Go now boasts career earnings of $422,288.

Live racing at The Meadows resumes Friday (Dec. 13), when the program features a $94,846.91 carryover in the final-race Super Hi-5. First post for the 13-race card is 1:05 p.m.
