Winbak Farm of Delaware has announced that four-year-old trotter Thunderously will be standing his introductory season in Delaware in 2025.

“Thunderously has the pedigree and conformation to make him a great choice for Delaware breeders,” said Joe Thomson, Owner of Winbak Farm. “He should be a great cross for many mares.”

Thunderously, 2,1:57.2s; BT1:56.1s-'24 ($45,104) is the fifth foal out of New York stakes winner Anikawiesahalee. As a yearling, Thunderously sold for $130,000 at the Standardbred Horse Sale.

Thunderously is a Walner half-brother to O’Brien Award winner Resolve, 1:50.4 ($2,749,545), a multiple Grand Circuit stakes champion with victories including the International Trot, Maple Leaf Trot, TVG Free-For-All Championship, John Cashman Memorial, Arthur. J Cutler Memorial (twice), Crawford Farms Open and Vincennes Trot.

“When I discovered Thunderously was for sale, I knew right away that we had to have him,” said Jack Burke, General Manager at Winbak Farm. “With him being a half-brother to Resolve, a proven sire of stakes winners, and a son of Walner, who is highly sought after, it made him a no-brainer decision for our farm.”

Resolve is the sire of O’Brien Award winners Righteous Resolve, 3,1:52 ($1,021,218), Duly Resolved, 1:52.4f –’24 ($943,780), and Ghostly Casper, 1:51.4s –’24 ($794,618).

Thunderously’s second dam, New York Sire Stakes winner Sahalee, 1:58.1s ($91,878), produced 11 winners from 13 foals with seven earning more than $100,000, including Ontario Sires Stakes Gold winner Wilsonator, 3,1:56s ($496,049), and Ontario Sire Stakes Gold  winner Legzy, 3,1:55.4 ($277,660).

“With the enhancements to the Delaware program, including money being added to the purses, Delaware stallions need to step up their game so their offspring can be more competitive nationally,” said Thomson. “Winbak Farm is dedicated to finding stallions with top pedigrees to stand in Delaware."

“I think he checks enough boxes he could show in conformation classes on the line at Hunter/Jumper shows,” said Judy Davis-Wilson, longtime Director of Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund. “His favourite person at the barn says he has manners to go with his looks.”

In 2025, Thunderously’s sire, Walner, will stand for $50,000 USD. He is the sire of eight millionaires, including 2024 International Trot champion Jiggy Jog S, 1:49.2 –’24 ($3,565,651). Thunderously will stand at Winbak Farm of Delaware for $2,500 USD.

“Winbak Farm plans on breeding some of our top trotting mares to Thunderously,” said Thomson. “With his outstanding pedigree and great looks, I expect his foals to be at the top of game in Delaware and nationally.”

“We encourage breeders to call our office for assistance with breeding-related questions,” said Burke. “Emily Warrington, our Stallion Administrator, who has a wealth of Standardbred knowledge, is available six days a week during breeding season to help answer calls to assist breeders in making the best decisions or to help direct them to someone who can help.”
