With his fifth win of the card, harness racing driver Jody Jamieson set a Canadian record for driving wins in a single season on Thursday afternoon at Flamboro Downs in Dundas, Ont
.
Jamieson, 33, of Cambridge, Ont. won his 740th race of the season aboard pacer Wild Heart. The former record of 739 wins was set by Mark MacDonald back in 2006.
Already boasting career best totals with 740 wins and over $11 million in purses, Jody Jamieson is the front-runner for year-end honours as Canada's driver of the year. Jamieson won the O'Brien Award as Canada's driver of the year in 2007 when he won both the $1.5 million North America Cup and the prestigious Little Brown Jug with horse of the year Tell All.
Lifetime, Jamieson has won over 5,000 races and driven the winners of over $65 million in purses.
Fans can keep tabs on Jody's win totals with a special feature on the SC homepage. In the middle column, there's a block which updates Jamieson's win totals after each card and also shows his lead in the North American drivers race.
Jamieson, who was later feted in a presentation at Woodbine Racetrack, reflected on his accomplishment in an interview with WEG's Chad Rozema.

Congrats Jody,
I still remember you as a kid at Sackville Downs. I thought your dad was on top of the horse racing world when he would win races with West River Ervin and Syd Grattan. Who could have ever imagined back then that you would be able to be in this position. That's amazing, good for you, beat this year's record next year, enjoy your Christmas break and 2010 will be waiting for you.

Congratulations Jody. Ever since you announced your goal for breaking the Canadian record, it has been a daily ritual to see how "Jody" did. For us it is like a hockey player going after a goal record. Push to the end of the year and have a good holiday. You deserve it. Awesome. From the Elliott gang.
