Three-year-old pacing filly Lucky Girl Hill extended her win streak to lucky number seven on Friday evening, Nov. 6 at Century Mile.
Driven by co-owner Phil Giesbrecht in an $8,000 fillies and mares conditioned pace, Lucky Girl Hill sat next-to-last through the first half-mile before picking up cover and gliding past pacesetter Locked Outa Heaven and Mike Hennessy off fractions of :29.1, :58.1 and 1:27.1. Lucky Girl Hill kicked home in :28 for the 1-1/4-length victory in 1:55.4 as the 1-9 favourite. Blue Star Aspire (Jamies Gray) completed the top three finish order.
Lucky Girl Hill now boasts a total of nine wins in 11 starts during her first racing season, with earnings of $37,250 for Giesbrecht and partners Monica Hudon of Sturgeon County, Alta., and Denise Andrew of Calgary, Alta.
The Gerry Hudon-trained filly, who came up just a neck and a head shy in her only two losses, started her current win streak back on Aug. 7 at Century Downs.
