Town Temptress flirted with the best Open mares currently competing at Hollywood Dayton Raceway on Friday night (November 4) before wearing them down to win the $15,000 feature event in 1:53.1.
Driver Peter Wrenn was unhurried with the eventual winner through the first quarter in :26.3, content to sit fifth along the pylons in the early going. When the pace came to a relative crawl during the second quarter, however, Wrenn decided to make a first-up move and was on the outside in fourth passing the :56.2 halfway station. After advancing to second and lapped on to the front-running Bellatricks (Josh Sutton) at the 1:24.2 three-quarter marker, Town Temptress paced home in :28.4 to secure her third win on the season and second in seven tries against Dayton’s best distaffers. Bellatricks, the lone three-year-old in the field, held for second with Brookletssuprsonic (Kyle Ater) picking up the show dough.
Dispatched at 7-2 odds, Town Temptress returned $9.40 to her mutual supporters. The exacta kicked back $37.
With the victory, Gail and Robert Sanders’ Town Temptress eclipsed the $100,000 earnings plateau, raising her lifetime bankroll to $105,579. The four-year-old daughter of Artiscape now boasts eight triumphs to couple with 14 place and six show finishes in just 44 career starts. She is conditioned by Steve Bauder.
