After two unimpressive performances to start the season, Guns An Roses got a change of scenery and joined the Lasix program and came up with an impressive victory over London’s half-mile oval.
In rein to Jack Moiseyev, Guns An Roses got away fifth in Monday’s $10,000 Preferred 2 for pacers while Kendal Gustav fired to the front and supplied splits of :27.1, :56.4 and 1:25.3. Guns An Roses slipped off the rail on the way to the half and rode cover into the backstretch before marching up three-wide to engage the leaders. His :29.2 closing quarter propelled him to a two-length win in 1:55.4 over Kendal Gustav. Third prize went to Rays San.
Frank Colville trains the five-year-old son of Life Sign-Best Lady for Joanne Colville and Emma Christoforou of Moffat, Ontario. The homebred won for the 12th time in his career and pushed his lifetime earnings in excess of $150,000.
A trio of Preferred 3 events were also contested on Monday’s card with Royal Outlook (1:57.3), Talbotcreek Jewely (2:01.3) and Perfect Vacation (2:00.4) winning their respective assignments.
The Raceway at The Western Fair District’s leading reinsman, Trevor Henry, had another solid day at the office thanks to a four-win performance. He took the opener with Strike A Light (2:02.4) before sweeping the final three races with Talbotcreek Jewely (2:01.3), Samillion Dollars (1:59.2) and Royal Outlook (1:57.3).
