Winter weather conditions forced the cancellation of the closing-night card after five races on Saturday, Nov. 29 at Harrah’s Hoosier Park, but not before Trace Tetrick and Tyler George made their annual trek to the winner’s circle to be honoured as the leading driver and trainer, respectively, once again.
Tetrick, Hoosier Park’s all-time leading driver, added one more win on the season as he took the opener with Vettel N for trainer George to bring his 2025 total to 352 victories on the meet. Tetrick’s steers have racked up more than $4.4 million USD at Hoosier this year, headlined by three Indiana Sire Stakes Final winners in Rock Shines Again, Miss Fancy Nancy and Rollin Rosie, all for George. He also picked up his 8,000th career driving win in July. The 39-year-old driver has now notched 14 driving titles at Hoosier Park, including the last 12 in a row. He won his first two titles in 2008 and 2012, and has now topped the standings every year since 2014.
With plans of heading to Dayton and Miami Valley this winter before returning to Hoosier Park in February of 2026, Tetrick currently sits eighth nationally in driving wins with 431 and has more than $8.2 million in earnings this year. He heads into 2026 with the $100 million earnings milestone within range, needing less than $7 million to reach that mark.
The podium of the drivers' standings remained the same as each of the last two seasons, with John De Long second with 267 victories and Kyle Wilfong third with 220. Marcus Miller rounded out the super in his first full-time season at Hoosier Park with 218 victories.
The training side of things also had a familiar face atop the standings, with Tyler George winning his sixth consecutive title. This year, George obliterated his own single-season wins record at Hoosier Park, conditioning 165 winners over the course of the meet to beat his 2024 mark of 138. It has been a banner year for the 40-year-old trainer, who currently sits 11th nationally in training wins with 200 and has racked up more than $3.9 million in earnings. Closing in on 2,000 wins in his career, the George barn leads all of North America in terms of UTRS for trainers with more than 500 starts at .446.
Ron Burke finished the year second in the Hoosier Park trainers' standings with 111 victories. Erv Miller was third with 105.
While the weather-shortened Saturday card put a bow on the 2025 season, race fans will have their shortest wait to date for the return of racing, with the 2026 meet slated to begin on Thursday, Feb. 12. Hoosier Park will race on a two-day Thursday-and-Friday schedule through April, when more dates will be added. First post is expected to remain 5:30 p.m.
