Southwind Farms of Pennington, New Jersey has announced that World Champion and Hambletonian winner Muscle Hill has completed his fertility test and is capable
of breeding a full book of mares. His syndication is now complete.
Muscle Hill capped off an undefeated season on October 24 of this year by winning the Breeders Crown at Woodbine Racetrack and was shipped to Southwind's New Jersey farm shortly thereafter. After a short respite, he began the process of learning his new trade. Dr. Dean Neely, D.V.M. of Mid Atlantic Equine Medical Center of Ringoes, New Jersey performed the evaluation.
Laura Young, farm manager of Southwind Farms, and Mike Klau, syndicate manager for the Muscle Hill Syndicate, report that as of this date, Muscle Hill’s book for 2010 is full and closed.
“There were very few outside bookings available, as the syndicate members will be using most of their share breedings. As you might expect, the response to Muscle Hill has been overwhelming and we were forced to close his book immediately," Klau stated. "We are very excited to have Muscle Hill join Chocolatier in the breeding shed at Southwind and are looking forward to a very successful breeding season in 2010."
Muscle Hill ended his racing career with 20 wins in 21 lifetime starts, the last 20 in succession, earning $3,318,682 lifetime. His undefeated season in 2009 included 12 victories and was highlighted by his World Record-equaling 1:50.1 score in the Hambletonian. Other victories included the World Trotting Derby, Canadian Trotting Classic, straight heat Kentucky Futurity, Stanley Dancer Memorial, and the American National. His 2009 earnings of $2,501,381 is a single-season record.
His two-year-old campaign was highlighted by his Breeders Crown victory in which he set a new World Record of 1:53.3. Other featured wins included the Peter Haughton Memorial, Bluegrass and International Stallion Stakes.
