The second preliminary leg of the Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) Two-Year-Old Colt trots and paces is set for Sunday at Dover Downs.
The only $20,000 DSBF colt pace on the wagering schedule comes in the first race. Bob Messick and Ron Patton's Bad Boy Named Sue, with driver Eddie Davis Jr., leads a field of six Delaware-sired freshmen to post. Linda Molesworth's Captain Casey, handled by Roger Plante, drew the rail while PT Stable's Al Ibad Spider leaves from outside Post 6 with the sport's leading driver, Tony Morgan, in the bike.
In non-wagering DSBF prelims, one of last week's first leg trot winners, Tony Poliseno's Collect The Brass (Carlo Poliseno), and Outdoor Action (Eddie Davis Jr.) owned by Bobby and Macey Mae Myers are tangled with a first time starter, Tom Lail's Special Command (Roger Plante), among six participants.
A second $20,000 trot pits Ed Maas and Nanticoke Racing Inc.'s Ruby Ransom, Marvin Mayer's Hot Potato (Jim Morand) and Shirley Shand's Snowy Finn (Wolfenden) in a field of seven.
In the DSBF Colt Pace prelims, Gentlemen Heir (Tim Tetrick), who was a winner last week for Let It Ride, Robert Cooper Stables, and Exquisite Farms meets a pair of second-place finishers Only Money Inc.'s Prince Of Badlands (Davis Jr.) and Bad Blood George (Morgan), owned by Crystal Ball Stables, Bob and Greg Laham.
The other $20,000 prelim is headed by Jeff Bartels' homebred Sgt Charlie (Corey Callahan) and Travel Watch (Ben Stafford Jr.) racing for Ben Stafford and John Heckler.
On a strong undercard are a $13,200 Filly and Mare pace, a $12,500 Male pace and a pair of Claiming paces.
Post time is 5:30 p.m.
