Grand River Wants More Slots

Grand River Raceway general manger Dr. Ted Clarke has said that there is room for 20 to 30 more machines in the gaming area of the Elora, Ont. track, and he would like to get approval for the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. to install them.

"There is a demand for more product than we can deliver at this time," Clarke was quoted as saying in an article published on therecord.com. "All other sites are able to operate in a manner that has no cap, and the OLG just simply fills demand as they see it."

During a public meeting this week, Centre Wellington Coun. Fred Morris said that he is against the expansion of video gaming at the facility.

"The whole thing has reached a point where we have to take a stand. Before long there will be a request for a casino. A deal is a deal, and those people agreed to 200 slots," Morris was quoted as saying.
