It may have flown under the radar to some, but Woodbine Entertainment Group circuit driving stalwart Mike Saftic recent returned to action after having been involved in an October 8 racing accident. Saftic has discussed his recovery and return from cracked ribs, and, of course, his Movember Moustache with Trot Insider

.

"I'm feeling good now," said Saftic, who along with drivers Jason Brewer and Rick and Scott Zeron were involved in the recent spill at Woodbine Racetrack. "They (the cracked ribs) weren't diagnosed right away, but when they were the doctor told me that it would take about a month to start feeling better."

Saftic said that the doctor's prognosis regarding recovery time was almost bang on. To pass the down time, the veteran horseman travelled to the annual yearling sale in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, where he plucked Avatartist, a Rocknroll Hanover colt bred by Perretti Racing Stb LLC, out of the sales ring for $25,000.

Although getting away from the track is good for a minute, the resident of Campbellville, Ont. feels at home in the sulky and on the track. Saftic was away from the bike for roughly two weeks before he was back doing what he does best.

"It was a little uncomfortable at first," he said, in regard to when he first got back into the sulky. "It was a little uncomfortable jiggling around in the bike, but after that it didn't take long to get right back into the swing of things."

When Trot Magazine's Movember Team was assembled, most thought Chris 'The Golden Greek' Christoforou would be a home-and-cooled winner when it came to sporting the most impressive French Tickler of the group. Some may have given Saftic an outside shot of growing the best 'soup strainer' of the bunch. As the month nears a close, many are saying that Saftic is representing the best 'stache of them all.

"I can't wait until December 1," Saftic chuckled to Trot Insider, "but I'm serious, I want to win this thing!"

In regard to Christoforou --- who is probably feeling a bit of pressure since Team Trot members are beginning to step up their facial-hair game --- Saftic laughed, "I think his pool of supporters may be shrinking."

Good to see you back Mikey. You might be getting up there in age but you're still one of the best. I bet Kathy is happy to finally get you out of the house.
