A recent $20,000 claim, A Boy Named Suuzz has continued his winning momentum for new connections and notched his fifth straight victory at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Friday night's (November 23) harness racing program.
The seven-year-old Mr Saratoga gelding was claimed most recently in the middle of his current streak on November 8 at Mohawk Park by Patrick Dillon. He has now won back-to-back races in the care of trainer Rob Fellows.
P L Idaho led the field through fractions of :27.3, :56.4 and 1:25.4 before being overtaken in the stretch by A Boy Named Suuzz, who kicked off cover and paced away to win in 1:53.1 for driver Louis-Philippe Roy.
Lisvinnie led the outer flow in the $18,000-$25,000 claiming handicap, moving first-up from fourth position near the half-mile mark while the pocket-sitting Brookdale Sonny backed through the field along the pylons spoiling Jimmy Be Good's three-hole trip. P L Idaho continued to front the field into the stretch before A Boy Named Suuzz, who got away mid-pack from post nine before tracking the cover, went by for a 2-1/2 length score while Mr Mach Jimmy ducked inside and rallied along the pylons to place. Brickman came on for third ahead of Face Of War while Jimmy Be Good sprinted a :26 final frame to pick up the final paycheque.
A Boy Named Suuzz was the 5-2 favourite and returned $7.20 to win.
The popular pacer has been claimed nine times this year for a total value of $119,000, often returning to the Richard Moreau stable.
He has won a dozen races with another 10 top three finishes from 37 seasonal starts while earning $99,560. Lifetime, he boasts 27 wins and $222,364 in purses.
