It has been reported that a Pennsylvania House Committee advanced a horse racing bill on Monday, November 23 that has been crafted to avert the threatened shutdown of the industry in the state.
News of the bill’s passage from committee comes via a report by The Philadelphia Inquirer.
The article has cited Rep. Martin Causer (R., McKean), who is the chairman of the House agriculture and rural affairs committee that advanced the bill, as saying that advancing the piece of legislation forward is a way of ending the threat of an industry shutdown.
Governor Tom Wolf’s press secretary, Jeff Sheridan, told The Philadelphia Inquirer via email that the Governor’s office “will continue to review the legislation as it moves through the process.”
According to the report, the legislation calls for the government to no longer have to cover the costs of equine drug testing in the state.
