Gingras Donates And Dominates

Driver Yannick Gingras pledged his driving commissions from Thursday’s card of racing at Harrah’s Philadelphia to aid a fallen reinsman and his family, and the Quebec native showed no mercy to the sulky sitters that he competed with.

Gingras, who donated his earnings from the card to the family of hospitalized reinsman Anthony Coletta, put on a clinic as a result of constructing a six-win performance on the 14-race program.

He swept the first two races with Cruise Queen (1:52.4) and Windsong Gorgeous (1:52.3) before returning to victory lane in Race 4 with Mandys Mattjesty (1:51.3). He captured Race 6 with Gritty Millie Boy (1:54.1) before taking the checkered flag in Race 8 with Tamasin Hall (1:56.4). The six-pack of wins was completed when Blissfull Romance (1:51.2) rallied to win Race 9 for trainer Ron Burke, who was one of the many horsemen generously donating to the Coletta family.

Coletta, who was injured Sunday night in a racing accident as Harrah’s Philadelphia, is recovering at The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.

Donations can be made out to Anthony Coletta and sent in care of his close friend, Anthony Defrancesco, at 2551 South Mildred Street, Philadelphia, PA 19148. Defrancesco is working with a local bank to establish a permanent fund for Coletta. Details will be announced when they are finalized.
