Trot Insider has learned that Perretti Farms will be opening a stallion station in Pennsylvania for 2013, headlined by two of harness racing's most prolific sires.

Perretti Farms' Bob Marks confirmed that the long-time New Jersey-based nursery will expand into Newtown, Pa., just over the border from New Jersey. Joining the Pennsylvania Sire Stakes program will be pacing powerhouse Rocknroll Hanover along with trotting titans Muscles Yankee and Lucky Chucky.

Despite posting solid numbers, buyers at the recently concluded Black Book Sale showed concern over the lack of a solid sires stake program in New Jersey and it was reflected in the average yearling prices for both Muscles Yankee ($27,511 average for 44 yearlings) and Rocknroll Hanover ($26,823 average for 62 yearlings).

Certainly seems that New Jersey's Governor Christie, like Ontario's Premier McGuinty and Finance Minister Dwight Duncan, is hell bent on killing Horse Racing in favour of Casinos. So sad that these "elected officials" are unable to figure out the whole picture when it comes to the domino effect on the Agriculture Industry, and cannot see beyond their own greed!
