The first weekend of November will feature the very best in horse racing at The Isle Casino Racing Pompano Park capped off by the 2011 Super Night for The Florida Standardbred Breeders And Owners Association
(FSBOA). The season ending Breeders Stakes championship night for the state bred two and three-year-old trotters and pacers will feature all eight division finals for single race purses of more than $62,000 each.
One of the evening's most interesting performers is found in the seventh race, the three-year-old colt and gelding pace. Melvyn returns to his South Florida roots for owner-trainer Rita Polese of Margate, Florida after a 2011 campaign which saw him shipped to The Meadowlands where he earned a 1:50.2 speed badge while in New Jersey.
In a non-wagering event slated for 6:30 p.m. before the pari-mutuel card begins, Cracker Coffee will be the focus of the two-year-old filly pace. A win by Cracker Coffee will earn her the $100,000 bonus for sweeping all five stakes finals in the FSBOA 2011 series for Michigan owner Russell Peavyhouse. An on-track T-shirt giveaway will also add to the festivities on Saturday night.
The $12,000 Open Handicap Trot highlighted the first program of the new month on Wednesday, November 2 at The Winter Capital Of Harness Racing. Keystone Thomas was a front end winner in 1:55.3 with Bruce Ranger in the bike for Fred Monteleone Stable of Pompano Beach. Stewart Nemiro of the Ranger Stable conditions the Revneue S-Yankee Taboo gelding, who has won 11 of 25 trips racing exclusively in Florida in the his 2011 season for earnings of $81,396. Aruba Vacation followed in for second from a pocket trip worked out by Fern Paquet Jr. and Smokin Dabra closed from last to third with Norm Dessereault in tow.
After last weekend's Breeders Crown of harness racing from Woodbine Racetrack attracted a near capacity crowd to the track and Isle Casino, another premium simulcasting event has been arranged for the coming weekend. Under an agreement secured with Calder Racecourse, Florida track's full cards and the Breeders Cup cards will be presented in their entirety this Friday and Saturday, November 4 and 5. The Daily Racing Form will be available while supplies last, with Friday post time at 12:30 p.m. EST and on Saturday at noon. For the convenience of guests, the raceway grandstand will also be open at 12 p.m. (noon) on Friday and Saturday as well as the casino's simulcast area for the thoroughbred presentations.
Post time is 7:05 p.m. EST every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. Tuesday racing returns on November 22 when the four nights per week schedule takes effect through March of 2012 at The Winter Capital Of Harness Racing.
