Corey Callahan worked out a sweet, second over trip for Itsrockandroll A in Thursday’s $22,000 Blue Hen Open Handicap at Dover Downs, and the Dylan Davis trainee didn’t let the golden opportunity go to waste.
Sent off as the 9-5 favourite in the seven-horse affair, Itsrockandroll A got away fifth while Goldberg marched to the top and carved out fractions of :26.4, :56.2 and 1:23.2. Shadow Cat went first-over on the way to the half, and Callahan grabbed the cover of that foe with Itsrockandroll A. Callahan used a :27.2 closing quarter to post the neck decision with Itsrockandroll A over Goldberg in a time of 1:51.1. Robbie Burns N was third.
