Unabating returned to Rideau Carleton Raceway's winner's circle on Sunday night (November 19) after top trainer/driver Guy Gagnon fashioned a front-end trip aboard the nine-year-old gelding in the co-featured $8,550 Winners Over Handicap Trot.
The beaten favourite last time out following back-to-back wins in the top trotting class, Unabating crossed to command from the outside post seven by the quarter pole. After the :28.3 opening panel, he clocked middle splits of :59.1 and 1:29 then opened up by two and a half lengths to notch his 44th career win in 1:59 flat over the 'good' track rated three seconds off.
Unabating paid $5.80 to win as the 9-5 second choice to trailing tier favourite Raising Richard, who finish fourth following a winning performance last weekend. Ghirardelli Lindy and Kfb Amigo Cool finished second and third, respectively.
The son of Broadway Hall notched his 11th victory of the season and is just three away from matching his career-best win count from last year.
His annual income climbed to $54,093 for owner Catheline Pelletier, while his lifetime earnings sit at $326,885.
The matching Winners Over Handicap Pace was won by the longest shot on the board. Rookie driver Ryan Guy worked out a perfect pocket trip in rein to Canadian Edition, who prevailed through the passing lane in 1:56 at odds of 43-1, prompting a big $89.40 win payout.
The six-year-old son of Somebeachsomewhere is campaign by trainer Macy Cassell and owner Keith Cassell. He picked up his fourth win of the season from 38 starts.
Print Media and National Debt completed the top three finish order while pacesetter Stonebridge Beach (:27.1, :57.3, 1:26) ended up fourth.
