Q Ts Charlie made every pole a winning one en route to victory in the featured Winners Over Pace at Northside Downs on Saturday, Nov. 18 as part of the season finale at the North Sydney, N.S. oval.
Adam Lynk was in the bike for trainer Jeremy Baker in the feature worth $1,600 as he sent the gelding to the top. The pair maintained a 1-1/2-length lead throughout panels in :28.2, :59.4 and 1:29.3 before fending off a fast-charging Keeperoftherealm (Redmond Doucet) at the wire. Q Ts Charlie stopped the time a quarter-length ahead in 1:59.2. Eastcoast Invader (Monica Sutherland) finished third.
Owned by John Murphy, the seven-year-old Proven Lover gelding earned his eighth win of the season from 20 starts and his 25th career victory. Q Ts Charlie paid $6.20 to win.
Aidan Dicks earned his first training victory on the Saturday card after he sent out Sweet City Girl to the track with Redmond Doucet in the bike. The seven-year-old Dali mare led gate-to-wire and hung on by a neck at the wire to win in 2:02.3 for the ownership of Dicks and Gregory Sparling. She returned $7 to win.
With a victory on the final card, Ardon Mofford brought his training win count to 29, earning him the Leading Trainer title for the 2023 season at Northside Downs. Two wins during the finale brought Richard O'donnell into second with 14 wins and John Hawco was third with 13 training wins on the season.
Mofford doubled up in titles after he won the 2023 Leading Driver title at Northside Downs, having 36 wins over the season. Ryan Campbell was second with 24 wins and Gerard Kennedy took the third place with 19 wins.
