Driver Stephen Oldford and trainer Allen Sisco teamed to win the leg of the Great Lakes Amateur Driving Association (GLADA) Trot on Friday, Nov. 17 at The Meadows, but the duo wasn’t done there. They also triumphed with the returning Chin Chin Hall at odds of 23-1 in one of Friday’s three co-features, a $12,100 conditioned trot.
Chin Chin Hall hadn’t raced since April 16, 2022, but he stepped high through the slop and turned the race into a processional, scoring on the front end in 1:53.3. Killer Instinct was second, 1-1/4 lengths back, with Spitfire Oversees third. The seven-year-old Cash Hall-Canland Hall gelding now boasts a lifetime bankroll of $857,013.
Two races prior, Oldford and Muscles For Life flew through the sloppy stretch to erase a two-length deficit and capture Friday’s $10,000 leg of the GLADA Trot.
When “Justinittowinit” Justin Mullett (Beyond Belief) moved powerfully first up to overtake Tom “Mayhem” Svrcek (Whiskey Lindy) on the lead and draw off, it appeared victory was his. But Oldford staged his furious rally to down Mullett by a half-length in 1:57.3. Allen Sisco (Holton) finished third.
It was a big race for Sisco, who trains both Muscles For Life and Holton for Oldford Racing LLC. The winner pushed his career earnings to $538,041.
“Soarin’” Lauren Harmon (Deliciousstone DK) and Devan “The Purple Princess” Miller (Truman Jr Hanover) rounded out the GLADA Superfecta ticket.
Double-digit bombers captured the other $12,100 co-features on the card.
Bereaved Hanover moved crisply first over in a conditioned pace and drew away, pulling off the 27-1 shocker in 1:53 for Chris Lems and owner/trainer Paul Corey. The six-year-old Artspeak-Bold Pink gelding extended his career earnings to $231,673. Double Up N and Patrikthepiranha were second and third, respectively.
In a conditioned trot, 10-1 Warrawee Whisper abandoned Lasix, and the change seemed to make a difference, as he rolled to a decisive 1:54.4 victory for Aaron Merriman despite being parked the first three-eighths. The five-year-old Trixton-Karoon gelding lifted his lifetime bankroll to $308,766 for trainer Bill Bercury and owner Renee Bercury. Alana Hill and Inside Express rounded out the ticket.
Dave Palone and Merriman each piloted three winners on the 13-race card.
Live racing at The Meadows resumes Wednesday, Nov. 22, with first post at 12:45 p.m.
