Resilience dominated the second leg of the Harvest Series for Ontario-sired three-year-old pacing fillies, romping to a 5-3/4-length victory for driver and co-owner Louis-Philippe Roy on Friday, Nov. 15 at Woodbine Mohawk Park.
Resilience won her division in the opening leg of the series last week and repeat in round two, which featured just one $17,000 division with a full field of 10 fillies lining up behind the gate.
Leaving from post six, Resilience crossed to command into the first turn with the other first round winner, Definingthe Moment (James MacDonald), stalking in the pocket through panels of :27.3, :56.1 and 1:24. Resilience's runner-up rival last week, Laneside Incontrol (Trevor Henry), went first-up from fourth turning for home but the popular pacesetter took off down the stretch to win in 1:51.4. Definingthe Moment held her ground in second with Laneside Incontrol finishing third.
A multiple Ontario Sires Stakes winner with $186,136 in career earnings, Resilience was the 2-5 favourite and paid $2.90 to win.
Roy co-owns the Jimmy Freight-Mia Seelster filly with Ecurie Francis Richard Inc. of Becancour, Que., and Ecurie Csl of Sorel-Tracy, Que. Trained by Eric Nadeau, Resilience is a three-time winner this year and is now seven-for-16 lifetime.
The series, which is for non-winners of $30,000 this year as of Sept. 30, 2024, will conclude with the $30,000 (added) final on Friday, Nov. 22.
