Female Trotters Sit Atop Poll 25

A trio of female trotters sits atop the 25th edition of the 2017 Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown Standardbred Poll.

Ariana G and driver Yannick Gingras winning the Breeders Crown Three-Year-Old Filly Trot on October 27 at Hoosier Park.

Ariana G, the dominant force in the three-year-old trotting filly ranks, hasn’t raced since she put forth another dominant effort in her $500,000 Breeders Crown final on October 27 at Hoosier Park. The Jimmy Takter-trained and Yannick Gingras-driven bay started from Post 8 and blew away her competition with a five and a quarter-length, 1:54.3 win. She sits atop the poll, as she garnered 326 points.

Hannelore Hanover, who hasn’t raced since defeating the boys in the Breeders Crown Open Trot at Hoosier, is second in the poll, just 20 points behind Ariana G.

Manchego, who also has not raced since her victory in the $600,000 Breeders Crown Two-Year-Old Filly Trot, is third in the poll with 292 points.

The Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll is voted on by harness racing media representatives that cover North American Standardbred racing.

The rankings are based on the votes of harness racing media representatives on a 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1 basis.

The Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown poll does not determine Horse of the Year. The U.S. Harness Writers Association votes in December on all Dan Patch Award division winners plus Trotter of the Year, Pacer of the Year and Horse of the Year. The Dan Patch Awards are separate from the O'Brien Awards, which recognize Canada's top Standardbreds of a given racing season.
