Anyone that has spent time around horses knows that you always have to be on your toes, especially when you’re in the vicinity of racehorses. One high profile celebrity recently had to rely on his speed to get away from a fiery filly on race day. Good thing he is the fastest man on the planet.
The incident took place a few weeks ago at Flemington Racecourse in Melbourne, Victoria. Track star Usain Bolt was at the track on ‘Oaks Day,’ which featured the $1 million VRC Oaks.
As an article by The Sydney Morning Herald explains, Bolt was in the mounting area with former Australian athlete John Steffensen when one of the fillies got a little too close for comfort.
The filly in question was Eleonora, who, according to the article, is known for kicking out and similar behaviour.
The Sydney Morning Herald piece states that Bolt let out a bit of a squeal before Steffensen quickly pulled him to safety. Bolt’s surprise was quickly replaced by laughs. "We very nearly got killed," Steffensen later joked.
Eleonora would go on to finish third in the ‘Crown Oaks.’
