Dover Stakes To 'Tony' And 'Tour'

The Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund got off to a fast start when Slick Tom and Evolution Tour scored impressive victories in their $20,000 divisions during Monday’s card at Dover Downs.

Russ Foster, a third generation horseman following in the footsteps of his father, Arty Foster, Jr., took Slick Tony right to the front and said goodbye to Transitioning Joy (Montrell Teague) and Sea Bags (Tony Morgan) in 1:54.1.

The No Spin Zone-Queen Kathy colt, who has banked $91,797, gave breeder-owner George League has seventh win in nine starts with two seconds.

Evolution Tour was just as impressive scoring a 1:53.3 win in the second $20,000 DSBF prelim. A son of Roddys Bags Again- Rare Filly, it was his third win along with three seconds in six lifetime starts. Tim Tetrick guided the win for trainer Jim King and owner JoAnn Looney King. He now has won $56,550 in purses. America First (Jeff Fout) was second in front of Mingo (Teague).

Tuesday is DSBF Two-Year-Old filly pace day. Wednesday features the Delaware-bred filly trotters. After two legs, the top eight DSBF point getters make the $100,000 finals for colt and filly trotters and pacers on Nov. 30, the same day of the $300,000 (est.) Hap Hansen Progress Pace for three-year-olds.

In the $11,000 feature on the overnight card, Tetrick and Little Ben, also trained by Jim King for owners JoAnn King and Janet Hudson, roared to a 1:50.3 score winning by four lengths. Imkeepingthisguy (Ross Wolfenden) was runner-up. See You Tuesday (Jonathan Roberts) was the show finisher.

Next Thursday, all four Matron three-year-old divisions, head the Nov. 16 program.
