Pompano Feature To Bombilla Hanover

It was a change of tactics that landed Bombilla Hanover in the winner’s circle for Monday’s $8,500 Fillies & Mares Open 2 Pace at Pompano Park.

The five-year old daughter of The Panderosa has a wicked early turn of foot, but driver David Ingraham elected to back off at the start and let a trio of early leavers battle through the opening quarter of :26.4.

When the dust settled it was Jasperthat A who had made the lead in the quick opening quarter, and continued to lead the field through the half mile station in :55.1.

The hot early fractions began to take their toll past the five-eight’s marker as the outer flow began to rush up quickly on the outside and sweep by the tiring leader. Ingraham moved his charge three-wide from fifth and took over the lead in a matter of strides past three-quarters in 1:23.4. It was all over from that point as Bombilla Hanover coasted home an easy three-length winner under the wire in 1:53.4.

It was the ninth seasonal victory, and 21st career victory for Bombilla Hanover in only her 73rd career try. The winner is conditioned by Peter Blood, who co-owns along with Rick Berks and Lewis Whitaker.

Leading driver Bruce Ranger was off all mounts again on Monday night with a back injury, making it the second consecutive card where Ranger has been a late scratch. Associate Judge Gregg Keidel said that Ranger is expected to return to action on the upcoming Wednesday night card.

Live Racing Continues at the Isle Casino at Pompano Park on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday evenings with a first post at 7:05 p.m.
