Bill Porter: 2011 TCNHC Champion

After outmatching over 109 rivals at the Spring Handicapping Tournament at Grand River Raceway in June, Elora, Ontario's Bill Porter emerged victorious in this year's $25,000 Trot Canada National Handicapping Championship

on Saturday night at the Raceway at Western Fair District in London, Ont.

Porter's bankroll of $96.60 was the high total among the 34 finalists representing thousands of fans that took part in over 50 qualifying events across the country, including online challenges and multi-leg events.

Players were asked to make $2 Win/Place wagers on 15 races between Georgian Downs, Western Fair and Woodbine Racetrack.

Here are the top five finishers in the 2011 Trot Canada National Handicapping Championship:

1. Bill Porter, Elora, Ont.
-- $96.60 bankroll - wins $25,000

2. Rick Therrien, Sudbury, Ont.
-- $80.60 bankroll - wins $1,000

3. Bill Swainson, St. Marys, Ont.
-- $76.80 bankroll - wins $500

4. Albert Czerniga, Hamilton, Ont.
-- $74.00 bankroll - wins $250

5. Greg Darnell, London, Ont.
-- $66.70 bankroll - wins $100

I met some nice people and had a wonderful day job well done.
