After a recent string of third-place finishes in top company at Flamboro Downs, Power And Grace ($3.40) looked every bit the part of the odds-on favourite and delivered a decisive 1:58.1 score in Wednesday's (Nov. 11) featured $8,500 Preferred 3 Trot at The Raceway at the Western Fair District.
Brett MacDonald sent Power And Grace forward from post 3 to a clear lead over Venus Duharas (Scott Young). The two mares raced one-two through splits of :28.2, :59.2 and 1:28.2 before Power And Grace began to edge away through the final turn. The five-year-old daughter of Holiday Road extended her uncontested lead to 2-1/2 lengths over Venus Duharas to record her eighth win of the season and 22nd of her career. Scene A Magician (Greg Dustin) sustained a mild first-over ascent to finish third.
Ronald MacDonald trains Power And Grace for Hartel Maintenance Inc. and Lormer McClure.
